Groom Insurance FAQs
How can I claim on my policy?
At Jane Chewins, you can report insurance claims quickly and easily using our dedicated App, available on IOS and Android devices. If you want to begin a claim against your groom policy, you can use the App to gather as much data as possible. Information provided will be passed directly to our team, who will act swiftly to handle your claim.
Alternatively, you can call and speak to our team – we will be happy to guide you through the claims process.
What is a freelance groom?
A freelance groom is someone who works independently, offering their services usually to multiple stables. As with most ‘freelance’ jobs, working independently means you have customers and not employers. This does mean that you will need to take out insurance yourself, unlike an employed groom position where your employer will likely take on that responsibility.
Do I need insurance to be a riding instructor?
The short answer is yes. As a riding instructor, you will have a duty of care to yourself, your clients and the horses under your instruction. Although you may fully understand the temperaments of the horses, you can’t guarantee an unforeseen event may happen. A comprehensive policy will provide you cover for several things including public liability, legal expenses and custodial liability, so that should it come to it you have protection for your business.
